“ Just got back from 2 nights at our favorite place to stay in Mendocino: The MacCallum House. This was our 7th or 8th trip there. The rooms with hot tubs are our faves and this time discovered a new one that was perfect - room 11. We had an issue one of the nights that Tatiana the manager dealt with in such a professional, accommodating way and once again it reminded us why we will never stay anywhere else. Thanks again for a 5-star experience! ”
“ Fantastic breakfast with excellent coffee; the house itself is quaint and lovely. Tons to see walking around and right next to the beach with a lot to enjoy ”
“ This historic house is an outstanding restaurant. We tried the chefs tasting menu, although when finished I feel like we ate full plates! LOL! The service was great and we also enjoyed the whiskey pairing..highly recommend if you enjoy whiskey or bourbon! Would definitely go back. The duck was my favorite dish even though I forgot to take a picture of it. ”
“ If you're looking for a fancy dining experience in Mendocino this is it. We did the tasting menu and they had a vegetarian option available, which I greatly appreciated. Our server was delightful. We sat indoors by the large windows and had a lovely view. Everything had excellent presentation and a unique medley of flavors. Hope to be back soon! ”
“ Excellent service. Accommodated us at 9:45am. Lovely ambiance with a fire and foggy garden porch seating. Food was fabulous with the huevos rancheros, eggs over easy, crispy bacon, fresh squeezed grapefruit juice, and a cortado. ”
“ We came here on Sunday Memorial Day weekend and while other places had a long line outside this place took us in and gave us a place to sit with a really nice view. We had a baby with us and we expected breakfast to take about an hour before baby would have to be put to nap. About an hour after sitting down and still no food came and one of our guests had to leave to put down baby for a nap. We eventually got our food probably an hour and a half after placing the order. The staff also made other mistakes such as not providing silverware, claiming they didn't know details of baby parenting (babies require naps) , bringing coffee creamer in a difficult to pour container , and seemingly forgetting to send a few of our order requests to the kitchen. In the end , the team of servers/management presented us with a solution that was satisfactory. They recognized the issues and we didn't need to ask for anything. We accepted their offer and even though the whole experience was frustrating and disappointing, the staff showed that they cared and demonstrated compassion and that's a win in my book. ”
“ For the quality of food you get - this place is really a bargain. Everything here is home made and unique. I'm a real foody and this place impressed me. The ambiance is great and so is the service. 100% recommend! ”
“ Our entree's were delicious! The fireplace made the dining room nice and toasty. They have cocktails, wine by the glass, some half bottle options, and bottles. We went on a Saturday 5pm reservations and I could tell our waitress was very busy helping so many other tables She juggled us so well she was a star her name was Aurora. The saffron risotto was delicious and my filet was a perfectly cooked cut. Definitely recommend, although I'm sure anything on their menu is delish. I recommend you toast with a Roderer brut cheers! (I was a little skeptical at first walking into the restaurant because it was a historic building but well kept.) ”
“ We didn't know what to expect. But it hit every mark. We were seated by the fireplace and greeted by Milo our amazing server. Bottle of local Pinot, a perfect pairing to everything. Best filet mignon I've ever had, fried chicken is a must have (we almost ordered one to go) hamburger meat is flown in and worth every penny.... Service is phenomenal and matches the quality of the food. Ambience is so beautiful. A must visit when you come to Mendocino. Absolutely delicious. ”
“ Our family of 2 adults and one child had an excellent dinner here around 5:30pm on a Sunday evening! Delicious food and excellent service in cozy, atmospheric setting. We shared the tasty paprika fries, the amazing fried chicken entree (which was served with wonderful cornbread and avflavorful watermelon salad), and the night's special pasta (a fettuccine with marinara sauce and chicken - it was good, though not remarkable). We also enjoyed our beverages - my elderflower cocktail was refreshing, my husband's Manhattan was good, and my daughter's Zida special mocktail was such a nice non-alcoholic option to have on the menu! We also loved the banana split we shared - we got to select 3 different flavors of their house made ice cream to put on it - mocha fudge, mint chip, and vanilla - all were delicious! The hostess was very warm and welcoming, and our waitress was very knowledgeable, attentive, and patient. They were welcoming of our 5 year old daughter. We felt very well taken care of. We enjoyed our seats by the window in the light, bright cafe section of the restaurant. We had a great meal here and look forward to returning! ”
